Hello, my name is Bernadette and I hope I can be of help to you.
If you have found yourself here, then you are possibly seeking ways to improve your personal well-being, your relationships and/or your overall quality of life.
You may be finding that life frequently tests your commitment and resolve as you make your way toward valued goals, demanding that you accommodate and negotiate the challenges & changes that meet you on your way.
Often, we feel ill equipped to meet these challenges & changes, resulting in symptoms of anxiety, depression or stress. We may find ourselves adopting behaviours and thinking patterns that reduce our quality of life and threaten our relationships. We may resort to ways of coping that hinder our progress toward what we really want.
Seeing a psychologist can help you by identifying and addressing unhelpful behaviours and thinking patterns, as well as offering skills & strategies to help you manage symptoms of anxiety, stress and depression.
Other reasons people might seek out a psychologist are grief & loss, workplace bullying, social anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, marital/relationship difficulties, parenting difficulties, trauma, health related issues, study stress, job dissatisfaction, loss of meaning, or life transitions, to name a few
As a psychologist with 17 years’ experience, I have helped many individuals succeed in their pursuit of a less stressful and more rewarding life, by offering them the skills and the insight they needed to meet life’s challenges.
My career as a psychologist is extensive and multi-faceted, and has provided me with the opportunity to work with a broad range and variety of clients between 18 years and 96 years of age. Whilst I have worked as a private practitioner for the majority of these years, my employment history includes working for government and non-government agencies, private organisations and not-for-profit agencies, as well as the Australia Defence Force in Canberra. .
My therapeutic style is adaptable & accommodating, non-judgmental and open. I believe in a humanistic, person-centred approach using evidence-based psychological interventions.
I have an eclectic style, which means I draw on a variety of evidence-based psychological theories, tools, strategies and ideas, and integrate them to meet a client’s particular needs and personality.
